Mistakes are how we learn

I was using a camera I’d never used before, a lens I’d never used before (technically), and a film I’d only used once.  Possibly not the best combination ever.  I really took care in focusing this, so I think the problem comes from the eyecup/diopter adjustment.  I had no idea just what it is for (still don’t, really) but I just slid it until things looked sharpest, and this sadly, is the result.  I still like it, it’s just that I think it would have been so much better if the paper were in focus.  So what did I learn?  Maybe I should understand what something does before I start playing around with it too much.  I’ll know for next time, I guess.
